FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH LIVE EXPORT SHIP BLAZE
Wednesday, November 18, 2015
Emergency services have successfully extinguished a fire inside a live export ship at the Port of Portland, in south-west Victoria, at the weekend.
The blaze broke out at the beginning of the month, inside an 800-tonne, three-story grain hopper, and continued to burn for almost two weeks.
The Country Fire Authority declared the fire safe about 4:00am (AEDT) on Saturday.
About 16 local, state, and interstate emergency services helped in the operation.
The process of rehabilitating port operations back to normal is currently underway.
