LOCH M FRASER LOGISTICS PTY LTD CLIENT UPDATE
Illegal logging due diligence requirements have been applicable for over 12 months, however, we have been advised by the Department of Agriculture that the enforcement stage of the regulations will commence from 1st January 2018.
This means that all importers of timber, timber articles, paper and paper articles MUST be able to verify to the Department of Agriculture, upon request, that they have met their due diligence obligations.
Failing to comply with due diligence requirements may attract a penalty of up to 300 penalty units ($63,000).
If you are an importer of timber, timber articles, paper and paper articles you will be required to complete the attached document on your letterhead, and return by email to Loch M Fraser Logistics.
Please note there is also a reminder regarding CITES listed goods. Any CITES listed goods that are imported without a permit, will be seized by Australian Border Force.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Dave Simmons
