US EAST COAST & GULF PORTS STRIKE UPDATE:

Monday, October 7, 2024
The strike by port workers along the US East Coast and Gulf Coast concluded late Thursday, following a tentative agreement on wages between the International Longshoremen's Association and the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. They have also agreed to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025.

As of today, several terminals remain closed, with plans to reopen starting Saturday, October 5th. Reports indicate there are currently 54 container vessels waiting outside the ports for berth scheduling. This congestion is likely to result in delays of 2-3 weeks, and the increased demand for landside services may lead to higher costs.

It is still uncertain whether the vessel carriers' newly announced surcharges will be enacted. Should these surcharges be implemented, they will be passed through at cost per the terms of your ocean transportation contract with Vanguard Logistics Services.

We will keep a close eye on developments and provide updates as they arise. Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please reach out to our sales or customer service team.
