PORT BOTANY STAGE 2 RAIL INVESTMENT PROGRAM

Wednesday, January 29, 2025

Stage Two of the program will see NSW Ports co-invest with DP World Australia (DPWA) in a new rail terminal built at DP World's Port Botany container terminal.

This will include 600 metre rail sidings serviced by rail mounted gantry cranes, boosting rail handling capacity at the terminal to an ultimate throughput of 1 million TEU per annum.

The project will start onsite in June and will take two years to complete.

NSW Ports will contribute $148 million towards the delivery of four rail sidings.

DPWA will invest $250 million in an additional rail siding, operational equipment and significant upgrades to its adjacent logistics park as part of a broader project.

Companies operating in Sydney look forward to working with NSW Ports and DPWA to minimise any potential terminal and logistics park disruptions & congestion during the construction phase.

As has been witnessed with the Stage One developments at Patrick's Port Botany Terminal, true on-dock rail improvements are beneficial in increasing the operational capacity of rail, thereby contributing to future efficient & cost-effective landside movement and exchange of containers through the Port.
