Good Afternoon, As you may or may not have seen in the news recently, there is a Tropical Cyclone brewing and on its way to Brisbane. This is going to impact all aspects of operations and deliveries to your clients
We must take note of the below impacts that will be unavoidable
• A massive impact on unpacking and packing of containers
• Deliveries to clients will be subject to conditions, flooding, road closures and safety
• Wharf closures will be imminent
• Dehire depots will have limits on stacking and avoiding blowing over of containers, therefore may close or limit dehires (if this happens containers will stay at your client's site to limit our exposure to the same issue)
• Loose Cargo stored or received will be at risk, regardless of it being inside or not, as we will not be able to control the winds, possible flooding, and damages to roofing, walls and windows.
• Loading and unloading LCL cargo will be subject to safe conditions and rain
• Staff maybe limited to no access to attend work, this will also limit our ability to perform daily services We must stress, that even if this Cyclone avoids full impact, Brisbane will still be affected of the coastal weather that forms part of the outset. Some info below received today.
It's not often you see the extended BoM Tropical Cyclone forecast a tropical cyclone into Southeast Queensland! The BoM have Alfred crossing as a category 2 system just north of Brisbane on Thursday afternoon (overlaid EC rainfall).
A few notes:
While most guidance supports a crossing, If Alfred does cross the coast, where Alfred does will really determine the impacts. The southern edge of Alfred will be far worse than the northern impacts (so crossing north of Brisbane is not ideal for large areas of Southeast Queensland).
Regardless of whether Alfred is an "Ex-TC," Category 1 or weak 2, the impacts are likely to be the same. The system is likely to be messy, and arguably a messy system will have more widespread impacts
Please note that Loch M. Fraser will always do their best to minimise the impact on all parties and minimise the damage these kinds of events can create.
We ask you in advance to contact your shipping lines, advise them you may need additional time on container detention
Please also note that although we will do our best to avoid any cargo being wet or damaged, containers stored being damaged or wet, nor Loch M. Fraser or our insurer will be taking any responsibility of any damage whatsoever during this period.
Please ensure you take this serious as mentioned above the impact will be here, the severity is the only possible change.
