IMPORTANT NOTICE TROPICAL CYCLONE ALFRED QLD UPDATE 03/03/2025 #2

Dear Valued Clients,

Following on from our previous notifications regarding the escalating situation in Queensland as Cyclone Alfred approaches. The current operational status across terminals is as follows:

Confirmed Closures

  • DP World Terminal: Will cease operations from 15:00 on 4th March
    • Operations not expected to resume until Saturday, 8th March
    • This represents a significant four-day operational suspension

Pending Closure Announcements

  • Hutchinson Terminal: Formal closure time yet to be confirmed
    • Likely to suspend operations from tomorrow
    • Will remain closed until weather conditions improve
  • Patricks Terminal: Awaiting official closure notification
    • Expected to follow similar suspension timeline to Hutchinson
    • Operations resuming will be dependent on cyclone passage and subsequent assessment

Vessel and Container Operations

The situation has already impacted container movements:

  • Vessel Berthing: All vessel berthing operations have been suspended across Queensland ports
  • Container Dehires: Any containers requiring dehire to BCT Terminal or DP World currently need redirection
  • Empty Container Parks: Remain operational at present
    • No closures have been implemented at this time
    • However, we anticipate this status will change as wind conditions increase

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as terminal's release additional information regarding closure durations and the resumption of normal operations.

Operational Impact

We anticipate significant operational challenges this week, including:

  • Vessel delays
  • Terminal closures
  • Empty park closures
  • Limited slot availability at terminals and empty parks
  • Traffic Disruptions

The adverse weather is expected to bring high winds and flash flooding, creating hazardous conditions for transport operations.

Action Required

Please take the following actions:

  1. Monitor free time allowance on your containers
  2. Contact shipping lines for extensions on containers where necessary
  3. Communicate with your clients about potential delays for deliveries and wharf collection
  4. Plan for traffic disruptions across the road network

Our priority remains the safe collection and delivery of your containers & cargo. Safety is paramount in these challenging conditions, and we appreciate your understanding that delays are likely as we navigate through this weather event.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your cooperation during this period.

Kind regards,

Danny Cobb
